He was born and reared in the Old Center community of Davidson county, the son of Joel and Katherine Helen Parrish. He attended the county schools and then entered the University of Tennessee for academic and medical work. He graduated there in the class of 1903.
Since then he had practiced in Nashville with the exception of time spent overseas as a physician with the United States Army during the world war. Dr parrish was stationed at base hospital at Bordeaux France during the war. upon return to Nashville he resumed his practice. he maintained offices in the Jackson building downtown and east Nashville office at 1004 north first st.
survivors are his wife Mrs Gladys Draper Parrish. four children, Henry Burton Parrish Jr, Frances Valera, Fryar Elmer and Lillian Marie Parrish all of Nashville and two brothers, John Francis and George S. Parrish of Nashville. and three sisters Mrs H. M. Patterson of Nashville . Mrs wade Holman of Barren Plains and M.G.H. Whitman of Atlanta.
