ABOOD - Judith M., 83, formerly of Westmont, died on November 8, 2022, at Laurel View Village with her loving husband by her side. Born on February 22, 1939, in Chicago, IL., daughter of Paul Dettor and Eleanor (Casey) Dettor. Preceded in death by her parents, sister Pamela, and brother Michael Dettor. Survived by her loving husband, Caram (Cal) Abood; daughters Anne Marie, wife of Matthew Di Francesco, and Karen Therese, wife of Michael Clarke; grandchildren Nolan, Luke, Daniel, and Nathan Di Francesco, Christian (Maureen Brown) Clarke, Allison (Brian Podobnik), Ryan, David, Benjamin, and Catherine Clarke, great-grandchildren Jude Clarke and Aidan Podobnik, brothers Paul Barry Dettor and Donald Dettor, and sister Diane Dettor Enos.

Judy was raised in South Bend, IN, and graduated from St. Mary's College in South Bend. Judy met her future husband at the University of Notre Dame while participating in a mock trial where Cal was a student at the law school. They moved back to Johnstown to start their family. Judy was active at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, singing in the choir, teaching CCD, and participating in many groups. She volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry for many years. She was a devout Catholic and lived a life of service to the Church and those in need. Judy was devoted to her daughters and ten grandchildren, who were the joy of her life.

Cal was always by her side during her later years as she lived under a cloud of dementia.

Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until Noon on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 PM at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Very Rev. Mark S. Begly. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, 927 Franklin Street, Johnstown, PA 15905, in memory of Judith M. Abood.

The family wants to thank the staff and caregivers at Laurel View Village who were so dedicated and caring to our mom.
