He emigrated 1871 Obituary: Chris F. Bateman, a resident of Byron for this past ten years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Herbert Smith of Byron, last evening (6 Oct 1931). He was b orn in Germany, Augsut 4, 1852, and was married to Mary Schmidt, April 27, 1875. He was a member of the Byron Lutheran Church. Besides his daughter at whose home he died, Mr. Bateman is survived by five sons, Frank of Arcade and Theodore, Fred, Herman, and Julius of Byron; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Bethman of Buffalo, Mrs. Mary Luck of Holley, and Mrs. Edgar Smith of Byron, and a foster son, Harry Hohn of Bergen. Funeral services will be held at the Byron Lutheran Church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Paul H. Nemeschy of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Batavia officiating. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery.
