Obituary for Viola "Pauline" Donigan (Lebanon)
Viola Pauline Donigan was born April 8, 1927, the daughter of Harvey Oliver and Maude Viola Cook Martin Hoskins, in Henley, Missouri. She went to her Heavenly home on October 8, 2022, at the age of ninety-five years.
On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Quentin L. Donigan, and they shared sixty-five years before his passing on November 21, 2012. To this union two daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Quentin; a daughter, Jeana Pollock Gilby on February 11, 2022; a son-in-law, Danny Pollock, on September 14, 2006; two half-brothers, Eugene and Everett Martin; four step-brothers, Lea, Willard, Dennis, and Ross Hoskins; and two step-sisters, Ruth Gilpin and Ethel Cardwell.
Pauline is survived by a daughter, Gayla Johnson, and her husband, John, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son-in-law, Darin Gilby, of Falcon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Rachel Buske, and her husband, Robert, of Falcon, Missouri, Ranita Burris, and her husband, Shannon, Danielle Shoemaker, and her husband, Ryan, Tyler Pollock, and his wife, Stephanie, and Stephanie Martinson, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and David Johnson, and his wife, Chi, of Alaska; thirteen great-grandchildren, Austin Buske, Noah and Saige Simmonds, Matthew and Kaylee Shoemaker, Houston and Stetson Pollock, Haylee and Shafer Martinson, and Matthew, Sophie, Ella, and Olivia Johnson; a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Twila Elam; and many other relatives and friends.
Pauline's family moved from Henley, Missouri to the Lebanon area in 1937. She graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1946. After graduation, Pauline went to work at State Bank in Lebanon until December of 1958, when she became a stay-at-home mom.
She made her profession of faith in Christ at the age of eleven and was a longtime faithful member of Emmanuel Chapel Bible Church. She was very active in the church teaching Sunday school for many years. Pauline later attended North Five Freewill Baptist Church until her health prevented her attendance.
In 1948, Quentin and Pauline moved to a farm north of Lebanon, near Dove, Missouri, where they started a dairy operation which they continued for many years. Pauline helped with the dairy operation and was also involved in various community clubs including being a 4-H leader.
Pauline enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her yard. She loved planting various flowers in her flower beds, especially her Iris' she collected from her neighbors. She also loved her family, baking and singing at church.
Pauline will be remembered for her sweet spirit. Whether you called her Mom, Grandma, Pauline, Nama, Aunt, or friend, there are sure to be memories that will make you smile.
