Death of Troutman, Joseph W.Troutman. Saturday night at 11 o'clock, at the family residence, west of Decatur, after an illness extending through six months, Joseph W. Troutman died of general debility, in the 45th year of his age, leaving a widow and several children. The deceased was a son of Uncle Jacob Troutman, and a brother of Samuel, Jacob and John Troutman, Mrs. Henry Cox and Mrs. E. Widick. He was a member of Dunham Post No. 141, G. A. R., this city. He enlisted in the Union army August 7th, 1862, as Corporal of Co. B., 116th Regiment Ill. Vol. Inf., and was with Sherman on the Mississippi march; returned to Memphis; was in the engagements at Walnut Hill and Haines Bluffs, and then at Arkansas Post. He participated in the memorable siege of Vicksburg and was in the Jackson, Miss., fight; and also in the engagement near Pearl River, both in 1863. He was at Missionary Ridge and Resecca, and went with Sherman on his march to to the sea and to Washington. Comrade Troutman was a brave and gallant soldier. The burial with honors will take place at Wyckle graveyard at 10 a.m. Tuesday Nov. 25th.
