Elizabeth Thornton (c1747-1811) in her own right owned the estate "Fox Springs," the uppermost plantation on the Rappahannoch River in Caroline County, Va., located at the Spotsylvania County-Caroline County line. She married c1770, John Taliaferro, Jr. (1746-1805), of "Dissington," King George County, Va. which estate he sold in 1804. Five children were Jane Gregory (c1773-) who married in 1792, Benjamin Parke (1766-1829); Mary Thornton (1776-95); Champe Thornton Whitaker (c1777-1831); William Woodford (c1781-) who married (1) in 1812, his cousins, Mary Thornton Woodford (c1793-c1815), and (2) Eleanor [Ellen] Woodford (1800-67); and Lewis Willis Taliaferro who married (1) in 1809, Mary C. Stanard (-1810), and (2) in 1814, Eliza ___ (1794-1830).
