Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine L. Murray Wright will be held noon, Monday, January 14, 2008, at St. Paul Baptist Church, Orangeburg with the Rev. Charcay N. Priester Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Bellville Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wright was born in Orangeburg County, youngest daughter of the late Walter and Sylvia Murray.

She was educated in the public schools of Orangeburg County,(Riverside and Wilkinson High School), graduating from Wilkinson High. She later graduated Cum Laude from Benedict College, Columbia with degrees in English and social studies. Employed with the Civil Services in Washington, D.C.,she was a Clerical Typist. Returning to South Carolina some years later, she taught at Macedonia, High School, Blackville. Edgefield High School (W.E. Parker) Edgefield and C.A. Johnson High School, Walterboro. She received her Master's degree in Couseling Education from South Carolina State College (University) After 31 years of teaching, she was retired.

At an early age she joined St. Paul Baptist Church, and was the recipient of 50 Years Membership. Active in many organizations she served in the following: Missionary Society, Deaconess Board, (FISH) Find Immediaty Sympath Help and Orangeburg Mission for Families, Tutoring Program Coordinator of Vacation Bible School, Organizer of Youth Ministry, Food Project for the Needy and Clerk for Public Relations.

Survivors include her devoted husband, Deacon Thomas Wright, of the home; one son, Thomas (Jennifer) Wright Jr. Loganville, Ga.; grandson, Caleb Wright, Loganville, Ga.; grandaughter, Austin Wright, Casset; a special cousin, Mrs. Jimmy Lee Salley, Orangeburg; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Hampton E.(Amanda) Wright, Charlotte, N.C., Aaron (Min. Luvenia) Sapp Jr. Williston; sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Guinyard, St. Matthews; special friends, Mrs. Dorothy Mack, Maryland, Mrs. Ann West and Mrs. Lonnie M. Blakely, Orangeburg and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Baptist Church, Windsor St. Orangeburg.

Friends may call at the residence, 3467 Belleville Road, Orangeburg and at Carson Funeral Home, St. Matthews.
