A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Anna was born in Bridger, Montana on May 2, 1934, and lived in Bridger as well as Pavillion, Wyoming during her childhood. She attended school at the Morton School. She has lived in Fremont County her entire adult life, spending 28-1/2 years in Dubois before moving to Riverton for 31 years, and at Westward Heights in Lander for the last 10-1/2 years.
Anna married George Burns on May 10, 1951 in Lander, Wyoming and together raised six children: Kenneth (Susette), Philippines; Virginia (Ralph) Trotter, Casper, Wyoming; Johnnie (Mary) Hyattville, Wyoming; Cindy (Allen) Keinert, Sahuarita, Arizona; Susan (Dan) Higgins, Cody, Wyoming; and Carol (Bill) Richards, Woodburn, Oregon. Anna had 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
While in Dubois, Anna was active in the Catholic Church and taught Religious Education to first and second graders for several years. In Riverton, Anna was very active in St. Margaret's Catholic Church, planning funeral dinners, helping with the annual Church Bazars, and made and donated many lap quilts to nursing homes.
Anna loved sewing and doing various crafts, gardening vegetables and flowers, canning, and baking. She loved cooking dinners for priests. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. Anna was known for the Christmas Village she created and set up each year.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, her six children, ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two sisters, Georgia Zuefelt of Fairfield, Utah and Mary Pond of Laramie, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Veronica Jares; 13 brothers and sisters; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Shelton and Cathrine Zarn.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Margaret's Catholic School, Abba's House, or a charity of the donor's choice.
