Reference: Thomas E. Burger, Funeral Home Inc. I have reflected elsewhere on my mother. She was always ready to go anywhere at any time. This involvement allowed her to do many things in life that probably most people only think about. She willingness to go the farmhouse, outside of Pittsford, made for a real interesting weekend and summer for our family for many years--I think we got started going there in 1949 and this continue on up to1956--school and other activities eventually made going very rare after that. During the last days that I talked to my mother, we recalled this exciting time in our lives, and I think it was between 1949 and 1956. Some of that time was spending at Sarah Cheeseman's log cabin home about 2 miles from the nature club. We talked of the main people who were always there for club functions, and the permanent people like Carl, Mr. Zimmer, Sarah Cheeseman, Rachel, Eva Meyers, The Strains, The Bussiwicks, and others. I wish I had known more about my mother. She was very secretive and one never got the full information from her. She talked little of the early years of her marriage, and to this day, Certificate of Death: Frances Vivian Spencer, female, date of death 18 May 1990; 7:50 AM at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport, Monroe County, NY. Immediate cause of death: Carcinomatosis 1 year; due to Carcinomas Colon -2 1/2 years; Thomas E. My family and my parents, R. Milford and Frances B. Spencer went to the city leaving my parents car in Yorktown for the trip in--after spending the day there, we returned to get my parent's car. They followed us out of Yorktown, but disappeared after a while. We went on to Copake, NY and waited for them--they didn't come, and it was later that evening that they called to state that the car's engine was broken. They stayed there in Yorktown, and we went down the next morning. Dad decided the cost to be too high to fix it, and they sold the car there to the garage. It forced them to buy another used car. My mother Social Security Number was 086-38-4814; on Certificate of Death it is115-03-1149B?? My mother was great a copying various things from recipes to sayings, and I found this in her handwriting among various papers. "Recipe for Happy New Year Take 12 fine full grown months, see that these are thoroughly free from old memories of bitterness, rancor, hate, and jealousy. Cleanse them completely from every clinging spite; picked off all pettiness. Cut these months into 30 or 31 equal parts. Do not attempt to make up the whole batch at one time, but prepare one at a time, as follows: Equal Parts: Into each day put equal parts of faith, patience, courage, work, hope fidelity, liberality, kindness, rest, prayer, and meditation. Add about teaspoonful of good spirits, a dash of fun, a pinch of folly, a sprinkling of play, and a heaping cupful of good humor. Pour love into the whole and mix with vim. Serve with quietness, unselfishness, and cheerfulness
