PFC Joshua Anthony Richard Young of Riddle, Oregon. Joshua was a 2004 graduate of Churchill Alternative High School in Eugene, Oregon. In school he played on the football team and enjoyed working on computers. Growing up he wanted to enter the military, receiving his first Battle Dress Uniform at the age of five. He joined the United States Army in May 2007. An accomplished artist, he hoped to earn money to obtain his college education in graphic design, and also desired to attend Airborne and Ranger schools after his deployment. He was currently assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Carson, Colorado. He died at the age of 21 from wounds suffered when his unit encountered an improvised explosive device during convoy operations in Mosul, Iraq. He leaves behind his mother and step-father; father and step-mother; sisters; step-sister; step-brothers; grandmothers; aunt; brother-in-law; niece; nephew.
