David Williams of 2754 Brierwood, Broomall, died Sunday morning at the Haverford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was 78.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the zone manager for the Polson Rubber Company of Garretsville, Ohio. He had lived in Broomall for 23 years and formerly lived in Drexel Hill. He was employed by Polson Rubber Company for 23 years. He and his wife celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary June 4, 1973.
He is survived by his wife, the former Mae Hudson Williams, a son, David Williams Jr. of Drexel Hill, a daughter Mrs. Mary Jane Flores of Milford, N.J., eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Sarah W. Peterson of Germantown, Mrs. Martha W. Brown of Longview, Texas, and Mrs. Florence W. Mellinger of Linwood, N.J.; and two brothers, Seth Williams of Drexel Hill and Herbert J. Williams of Aldan.
Services were Tuesday morning at Gibson's of Broomall with the Rev. Kenneth C. Steward, associate pastor of Ardmore Presbyterian and former pastor of Marple Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment was at Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
