Emil Joe Ermis, 93 of Vernon, Texas died on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Vernon, Texas.

Joe was born February 8, 1929 in Burkburnett, Texas. He was the son of the late Adolph Ermis and the late Anna Belle Vanek Ermis, later they moved to Vernon then to Farmers Valley later they moved back to Vernon where he graduated from high school in 1948.

He worked for E.S. Lacy & Hamrick Grocery Store from June 1946 till 1969 when he bought the store from E.S. Lacy and named it Joes Food Store.

He married Betty Blake Griffith in 1963 after many years of operating Joes Food Store they sold the store and bought a motorhome and travel for three years moved back to Vernon in 2000. He enjoyed to travel, yard work and work shop.

Joe is survived by his by his wife Betty Ermis of the home his step-children Cecelia Chism and husband Curtis of Vernon, TX., Bruce Griffith and wife Lisa of Millsap, TX, and Valerie Ann Cochran and husband Steve of Duncan, OK; 8 grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
