Funeral services for Wheeler Cornwell, who died at his home at Americus, Kansas, Monday, March 27th, were held Wednesday, March 29th in the Bushong Methodist church. The services were conducted by the Rev. C. E. Davis, of Americus. Mrs. Geo. Simons and Mrs. Herbert Anderson, of Americus, sang "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." They were accompanied by Mrs. Grace Millison.

Pall beareres were: Mont Gray, J. R. Swarner, D. A. Reaka, Howard Clapp, Wm. Mackenthun and C. U. Millison.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Burton Marcy, of Topeka; Mr. and Mrs. Kale Dunn, of Syracuse; Mr. and Mrs. Ola Spellman, of Seminole, Okla.; Manly Cornwell, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Mrs. Bob Hayes and daughter, of Gary, Mo.

James Wheeler Cornwell was born June 11, 1863 at Melrose, Clark County, Illinois, and passed away March 27, 1939 at Americus, Kansas, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 15 days.

He came to Kansas in 1884 and was married to Mettie Marcy August 7, 1891. To this union were born eight children, Carl Cornwell, of Bushong, Kans.; Rena Spellman, of Seminole, Okla.; Mabel Haworth, of Americus, Kans.; Royal Cornwell, of Emporia, Kans.; Isla Dunn, of Syracuse, Kans., Raymond Cornwell, of Emporia; Manley Cornwell, of Oklahoma City, and Marcy Cornwell, who preceded him in death May 2, 1932.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, seven children, seventeen grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, besides a host of relatives and friends.

Americus, March 28, 1939--Funeral services for James Wheeler Cornwell, 75, who died at his home in Americus at 4:30 o'clock Monday morning, will be held at the Bushong Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Rev. C. E. Davis, pastor of the Americus Methodist church, will conduct the services. Mr. Cornwell had lived in Lyon county for more than 50 years.

Mr. Cornwell was a native of Illinois. After coming to Kansas he married Miss Mettie Marcy at Allen in 1880, and the family had lived in the Allen vicinity since.

Surviving are the wife and eight children. The children are Carl Cornwell, of Bushong; Mrs. Rena Spelman of Seminole, Okla; Mrs. Mabel Haworth of Americus; Royal and Raymond Cornwell, of Emporia; and Mrs. J. C. Dunn, of Syracuse, and Manly Cornwell, of Oklahoma City, Okla. A son, Marcy Cornwell, died in 1932.

Bushong, April 4--Funeral services for Wheeler Cornwell, who died Monday morning at his home in Americus, were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the bushong Methodist church. Rev. C. E. Davis, pastor of the Americus Methodist church, conducted the services. Mrs. George Simon and Mrs. Herbert Anderson, of Americus, sang, accompanied by Mrs. Grace Millison, of bushong. William Mackenthun, Jerome Swarner, Dolph Reaka, Howard Clapp, Uba Millison, and Mont Gray were the pallbearers. Burial was in the Bushong cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Spellman and Manly Cornwell, all of Oklahoma City, Okla; Mr. and Mrs. Kale Dunn of Syracuse.
