Professional Basketball Player, Coach. He played the point guard position for the National Basketball Association's Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Baltimore Bullets, Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and San Diego/Houston Rockets from 1961 to 1972. He also coached the NBA's Houston Rockets from 1973 to 1976. He played basketball collegiately at Providence University before being drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the 2nd round of the 1961 NBA Draft. In college, he helped lead Providence to the the 1961 NIT Championship. He would go to play for the Pistons and several other NBA teams before joining the San Diego Rockets in 1970. He moved with the franchise to Houston and played for them until retiring as a player in 1972. The next season, he became an assistant coach for the team and was in this position when he took over as head coach in January of 1973. His tenure as head coach lasted for three and half years before he was fired after the 1975-76 season. His career playing statistics included 5,521 points, 1,284 rebounds and 2,102 assists. His career coaching record was 129 wins and 152 losses.
