Ishpeming, MI - Sandra Lynn Achatz, age 70, of 4461 US Hwy 41, Ishpeming, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at UP Health System Bell in Ishpeming.
Sandra was born in Pontiac, Michigan on June 30, 1952, a daughter of the late Betty (Niemi) Gregorich. Sandra was a graduate of Calumet High School, attended Suomi College (Finlandia), and Northern Michigan University. Sandra worked in the culinary industry from age 12, being the daughter of restaurant owners. Locally she had worked / managed Sambo's, the Brown Derby and the Ishpeming Elks. When her boys were born, her work took on a new role as homemaker. Sandra had also worked in the medical field until she had injured her back.
Sandra was a member of the CrossBridge Church in Ishpeming. She will be remembered as a caring individual and was willing to take in anybody who was in need. In her younger years Sandra loved skiing, and in recent years enjoyed the 906 lifestyle, being outdoors, camping, being around her pets and a good campfire.
Survivors include two sons - Jesse Swenor and Aaron Swenor both of Ishpeming, her former husbands - Tom Swenor and Paul Achatz; grandchildren - Gabby Swenor, Shane Swenor; step-grandchildren – Eric, Mercedes and Kenzie Hebert, and her dog Millie. She was preceded in death by her mother, an infant brother and infant sister.
Private services were held. Per Sandra's wishes, cremation will take place.
