Robert Alvin "Bob" Ferrell, who resided in Alma, Arkansas, died Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on September 10, 1947, in Fort Ord, California, near Marina, to the late Seth Ferrell, Jr. and Mary J. (Foy) Ferrell. He was 74 years old.
Bob retired from Athens Clark County Correction Facility in Athens, Georgia. He served seven years in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He got out as a Sergeant in 1974. Bob was married for 46 years to Ellen Cathers Ferrell, who passed away December 10, 2020, and was laid to rest at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Bob's urn will also be placed at Fort Smith National Cemetery with his late wife, Ellen.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra K. Hunter Ferrell; three daughters, one son, and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Nancy Sampley of Virginia; two brothers, Daniel L. Ferrell of Iowa Park, Texas, and Seth Ferrell, III of Uniontown, Arkansas; his nieces, Charlotte Jones of Toccoa, Georgia, Gwenolynn Bell of Snellville, Georgia, April McClain of Uniontown, and Melissa Scott of Uniontown.
