Louis Stan Buckmaster
MARQUETTE -- Louis Stan Buckmaster, 54, of 401 Rock Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at his home.
Stan was born April 16, 1947 in Northville, a son of Lloyd and Norma (Beaudry) Buckmaster. He moved to Marquette as a child and was a 1966 graduate of the Marquette Senior High School. Stan then entered the US Army where he served in Vietnam with the First Battalion Eighth Cavalry
Airborne Division. On June 14, 1969 he married the former Mary K. Inch and the couple began to establish their home and raise a family. Throughout the years, Stan worked at the Marquette Bottling Works, UP Office Supply, owned Northland Office Supply, worked at the Marquette Elks Lodge #405 B.P.O.E., and was a stained glass artist.
Stan always enjoyed helping others, and served as a baseball and soccer coach for many years. Recently, utilizing the Internet, he spent many hours contacting Vietnam Veterans and reuniting them with their comrades, and connecting families who had lost loved ones with veterans who had served with them. Stan loved his family, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and spending time creating his own special
stained glass pieces. He loved watching hockey, especially the Red Wings and N.M.U.
Stan was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, held every chair and was past Exalted Ruler of Marquette Elks Lodge #405 B.P.O.E., and was a member of the Jumping Mustangs.
A loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, and nephew, he is survived by: his wife, Mary K.; two daughters, Lori Buckmaster and her fiance, Jesse Dehlin, and Kari Buckmaster; a son, Andy Buckmaster; his mother, Norma Buckmaster; brothers, Lloyd (Sue) Buckmaster and John Buckmaster; sisters, Kitty Kelly, Alice Buckmaster, and Sandy (Karl) Stenglein; sister-in-law, Pattie Buckmaster; brother-in-law, Jack Tauch;
uncle, Louis (Connie) Beaudry; aunt, Frankie Franchuk; mother-in-law, Dorothy Inch; brothers-in-law, Robert Inch, James (Darlene) Inch; sister-in-law, Sue (Joe) Ramos; special friends, Tim and Sherry, Lance, Emily, and Dwight Downs; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and neighbors.
Stan was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Buckmaster; brothers, Richard Buckmaster and Lawrence "Butch" Buckmaster; sisters, Lola Tauch and Holly Beaudry; and his father-in-law, John Inch.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday, December 21, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Louis Cappo, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Vietnam Veterans of America Scholarship Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
