Louis John Lacerra died Wednesday February 24, 2010. He was 72 years old. A longtime resident of Somers, Mr. Lacerra was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York to the late Virginia (Tucillo) and Louis J. Lacerra. He was a graduate of Edison High School in 1955 and Fordham University where he served in the ROTC program and received a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing in 1959. Mr. Lacerra served in the United States Army reserve for 30 years, retiring as a Colonel in 1989. For many years, he worked for the New York Telephone Company as Manhattan District Manager of Community Relations. Mr. Lacerra was elected to the Board of Education of Mount Vernon, New York for a five year term and served as its President. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion; he served as a board member of Junior Achievement of New York and a board member of the Queens Symphony Orchestra. In his spare time he was an avid reader, devoted New York Yankees baseball fan. He also enjoyed playing golf and spending quality time with his family. He is survived by his wife Marie, his children Louis, Mark, and wife Karen, Lisa Lacerra Gataletto and husband Dominick, Celia Ecker and husband Rodger.
