Mr. Thomas E. "Tommy" Blount, Sr. 87, passed away Thursday (June 23, 2022) at the McGraw Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL following a short illness.

Preceded in death by Timothy Ernest Blount, son; Ernest and Clara, parents; Ernest Blount, brother; Jeanette Sowell, sister.

Tommy graduated from Wacona High School in 1952 and then started his own business, Blount Construction.
He later went into business with his father at Worten and Blount, which later become Blount Parts and Equipment.
Alongside his love for tractors, he enjoyed developing real estate and keeping his mind busy with the next project. More than work though, he was extremely proud of his family - his wife of 68 years and the full life that they created together.
Tommy was a storyteller at heart, and he could entertain anyone with his charm and wit. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marlene Cargill Blount;
three children,
Tom Blount (Elizabeth),
Toni Blount (Curtis), and
Tinker Blount (Cristi);
nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday (June 27, 2022) at Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at the church on Monday at 2:00 p.m.
