Doris Bell Acree was a very caring and loving wife, mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and friend to many. She left this world peacefully on June 17th, 2022, at the age of 94.
She was born to Opal and Arthur Schoelman on August 10th, 1927, in Houston Texas. Doris was second to the oldest of 8 brothers and sisters. She grew up through the 1930s and by the early 1940s she had met the love of her life Dwight Leon Acree they would marry on November 19th, 1943, The two of them spent many years working hard and traveling to see the beautiful landscape of Texas and surrounding states.

Then in the late 1960s along came her sons Dwayne Edward Acree and John Arthur Acree. She loved her sons and was dedicated to them in every possible way. They would leave Houston and move to Montgomery Texas in 1975 to enjoy the slower pace and get away from the big city, there they had horses, chickens, rabbits, doves, and a slew of other critters.

Doris worked in the retail industry in and around Conroe for many years, including Wackers, Winns, and Hobby Lobby. She loved her work and it was a big part of her life.

She lost her loving husband on February 10th, 1991. Doris was sure to keep everyone together as she was the Matriarch of the family. She loved all the kiddos and made it a point to bring them all together on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter- this was nonnegotiable! She would spend hours cooking and preparing for each of the holidays and love every second of it. All were welcome to attend and enjoy family or friends. She Retired in her 80s and continued the traditions just the same. Doris never met a stranger and would help anyone in need. She was a wonderful Grandma to all of the grandkids and was blessed with many great grandkids as well!

Doris's 94 years of life on this earth were truly blessed as were all of those that were in it.

Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband Dwight "Leon" Acree her mother Opal and her father Arthur, Her brothers Arthur "Junior", Darrel, Jack, Jerry, and sister Deloris. She leaves to cherish her memories, her two sons Dwayne and his wife Donna Acree, and John and his wife Lori Acree, Her 3 Grandchildren DJ, Lita, and John the II as well as 8 Great Grandchildren. Adalynn Kate Rose, Mabry Joan Nichole, Ryker David Edward, Emery Violet Ruth, Nevaeh Jane Bell, Aurora Rayne, John Arthur III, and Grayson Lee. Her youngest brother Walter Schoelman and wife Flo and her youngest sister Sandra "Sudie" Geisler. As well as numerous friends that were like family at the Heritage Oaks Community.

Funeral services are planned for Monday, June 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Cashner Funeral Home with visitation to begin the hour prior at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston at 12:00 p.m. Monday.
