"Her full name was Cordelia May Elkins Ball. She died 27 June 1905 while giving birth at the age of 18 years, 6 months, and 18 days. This would calculate her birth date as 9 Dec 1886.

Additional information for Cordelia Elkins Ball: I have found a birth record for CORDELLA ELKINS giving her birth date as 9 Dec 1887 in Boone County, West Virginia to David and Nancy Elkins. 1900 census also spells her name CORDELLA M ELKINS. Her marriage record spells it DELIA MAY ELKINS. Her death record spells it CORDELIA MAY BALL. I guess she preferred spelling it the latter way.

I have assumed the 1887 date is the correct year, since it was recorded near the time of birth. We all know that back in the day, one had to rely on counting days on the calendar for birth dates unless someone wrote it in the bible or somewhere.
Always willing to help out when I can.
