Averil obtained her bachelor's degree in education from Mankato State University in 1971. She was a devoted teacher in the St. Clair elementary school district, and taught multiple grades until her retirement in 1999. She loved teaching, and was proud to make a positive impact on so many young people over the years.
Her interests included having coffee with friends, traveling, being at the cabin, all kinds of flowers, playing the piano and accordion, reading, and doing puzzles; but by far her biggest joy in life was her family. She was a thoughtful and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose kindness, warmth and sense of humor will always be fondly remembered and missed.
Averil is survived by her husband Ron, sons Gerry and Craig (Nancy), daughter Kristi, grand-daughters Courtney and Jill (Manuel), great-granddaughters Karma and Katya, and sisters-in-law Marguerite Johnson, Ileane Voth, and June Johnson.
A private family graveside service and inurnment was held at Cedar Hill Cemetery on July 20, 2022.
