Danny Ray Day, a Garden City KS, native, died in his home Thursday, June 9th, 2022. He was born April 3, 1968, in Garden City, Kansas the son of Lee Aden & Iris LaReita (Willson) Day.

Danny was a hero, having stepped up, putting his life in danger, to save countless lives in 2016, when he infiltrated a group of terrorists, who were planning to detonate multiple explosives on Mary Street. Many generations of Garden City residents have him to thank for their lives. He also was a devoted, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Cherlyn, his son Brandon, and his daughter Alyssa. He is also survived by his 8 brothers and 5 sisters. He will also be missed by, Braydon, Abby, Noa, Margie and many others who worked with him, as he ceaselessly worked for the good of our community. He enjoyed Chiefs football, 4 wheeling, and shooting. He was a graduate of Garden City High School, and Bartlesville Wesleyan University.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Cornerstone Church in Garden City with Rev. Raul Silva officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in garden City. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Garnand Funeral home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to the Danny Day Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
