FR. WILLIAM G. HODDE, 81, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Saint Anne Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he went to St. Peter's School, Fort Wayne, and then Our Lady of the Lake, Wawasee and Catholic University (Basselin Scholarship) Washington, DC. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 22, 1952 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne, by Bishop John F. Noll. He was appointed Assistant at St. Luke Church, Gary on July 1, 1952; Assistant at Sacred Heart Church, Fort Wayne on Dec. 16, 1952; Assistant at St. John the Baptist Church, Fort Wayne on Nov. 7, 1963; Vice Official of Diocesan Tribunal on July 1, 1967; Diocesan Consultor on Jan. 15, 1969; Pastor of newly formed Our Lady of Good Hope Church, Fort Wayne on July 1, 1969; Spiritual Moderator of Diocesan Catholic Charities on Sept. 1, 1972; Pastor at St. Thomas Parish, Elkhart and Chaplain of Elkhart Area diocesan Council of Catholic Women on July 8, 1981; Pastor at St. Aloysius Parish, Yoder on July 22, 1986; five year term on Clergy Retirement and retired on July 23, 2002. Survivors include niece, Sandra Hodde; nephew, Harry M. Hodde; and great-nephew, Matthew Hodde. He was preceded in death by brother, Harry E. Hodde. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 St. Joe Road, with calling at 10 a.m. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with Rosary at 6 p.m. and Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, at the church. Arrangements by Mungovan & Sons Memorial Chapel, 2114 S. Calhoun St. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials to Masses-Our Lady of Good Hope, St. Aloysius & Diocese of Fort Wayne, South Bend.
