Gary Lee King, 68, of Pocomoke City, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the University of Maryland Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on February 4, 1954 in Woodbury, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph and Joanne King.

He graduated from John Dickinson High School. Gary served as a Weather Radar Technician with ASRC Federal Space & Defense at NASA Wallops Flight Facility for several years. He loved his work and felt very fortunate that it allowed him to travel all over the world. Gary also previously served in the Maryland Defense Force as a squad leader and a SGT E5. He was also a member of the Color Guard.

He was a longtime member of Lynnhaven Baptist Church in Pocomoke City. Gary served in many different capacities in the church including the sound technician and Sunday School Director. He also helped with the construction of "Walk Through Bethlehem" and acted as the Blacksmith for two years. He went on mission trips to Scotland and Nicaragua and helped with various local disaster relief projects.

Gary was a kind and gentle soul. He was a dedicated hard worker and would do anything for anyone. He was generous to everyone he came in contact with. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "POP."

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Kathy; son, Joseph (Mara) King of Salisbury; daughter, Danielle (Drew) Crockett of Crisfield; sister, Pam Hanlon of Hockessin, DE; two brothers, Ronnie (Toby) King of Mt. Vernon, TX; Mike (Joanne) King of Carrollton, VA; two of the sweetest grandsons, Aiden King and James Crockett; and two more grandchildren that are on the way. He is also survived by a very special aunt, Kathryn Haas of Delmar, DE and several cousins, nephews and nieces.

Gary was preceded in death by his loving parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Vel Natesan of Salisbury, Maryland and his staff, and the University of Maryland Lung Transplant Department and Hospital staff for their great work and kindness over the past couple of years.
