Herbert "Joe" Goss, 68, of 1597 West Main Rd., died yesterday in Newport Hospital. He was the husband of Loretta M. (Roberts) Goss.
Mr. Goss was in the Navy 23 years, during which he served in both World War II and Korea. He later worked in the public works department at the Newport Naval Base until retiring in 1973. He was a member of Branch 19, Fleet Reserve Association.
Born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, he was a son of the late L. G. and Ada Marie Goss.
Besides his widow he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Bostick of San Leandro, Calif., and Mrs. Violet Small of Windsor, Ontario; and two brothers, Edward Goss of Ann Arbor, Mich., and George Goss of Windsor, Ontario.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in St. Mary's Episcopal Churchyard, Portsmouth.
