On December 26, 1919 in Riesel, Texas , William Hamilton and Irena Roy were blessed with a baby boy that they named Olen, who lived a full life. On Friday, around 10 a.m. he moved to his new home in Glory.

He united with Springhill Methodist Church at a very young age and stayed there until he entered the U.S. Army in September 1942. While there, he served as a military Occupational Specialist.

He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and 4 Overseas Service Bars. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1945. Upon returning to Riesel, he went with some friends to California. He spent 39 years in San Francisco. In September 1991, he moved back to Texas to be with his remaining sisters, and brothers. After the last one passed, he asked what he had come back here for. He said he guessed God intended for him to turn out the lights. While in California, he was a member of Downs United Methodist Church. Olen was a member of the choir while there. Upon returning to Riesel, he reunited with Springhill United Methodist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, the Steward Board, and Choir. He will truly be missed by those who knew him, his Church family, and his Dominoes buddies.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife, five brothers, and five sisters.

Those left to cherish his memories are his nieces, one sister-in-law, a host of other family, relatives, and friends.

Dorsey Keatts will be providing the funeral services.

Olen moved to California and lived there many years and drove a taxi. He had lots of funny stories to tell.

On Dec 26, 2019 his family celebrated his 100th birthday with a large party at the Bellmead Convention Center. A new car dealer picked Olen up in Riesel and drove him to the party. He was recognized that night on the KWTX News, and the Waco Tribune Herald Newspaper.

Olen had many friends and was a delightful person to know.

He was a long time member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church and will be buried at the cemetery.
