Joseph, aka "Biker Joe" or "Joe", unexpectedly left this world to meet our God on Sunday May 15, 2022 surrounded by his wife, daughters and his sister. Joe was born in Tampa, Florida while his father worked as an engineer. Not long after his birth, they relocated to their hometown of Ashland, Virginia to the Wallmeyer Family Farm and raised their 7 children, in which Joe was the eldest. Biker Joe served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps. He then worked and retired from IBM. During his tenure at IBM, he opened "Scooters, Inc.", his motorcycle repair shop. A self taught motorcycle mechanic, he specialized in Harley Davidson and custom builds. This was the work he loved and poured his heart and soul into. In his late 40's, he had two beautiful daughters that he absolutely adored. He raised them both himself on the family farm, enrolled them in Catholic school and enjoyed having the two girls to dote on and to teach them the way he grew up. Joseph attended St. Bendedict's Parish faithfully. He loved our Lord, he loved the church and his faith. In 2007, he met the love of his life "Peaco" and were married in 2009 at St. Bendedict's. With their union, Joe gained a son, a daughter in law and four grandchildren. Joe and Peaco housed both of their businesses under the same roof, moved to the Wallmeyer Family Farm and have raised their granddaughter for the last 10 years together. They were inseparable and acted like teenagers when they were around each other. Throughout his life, he was known to be unfailingly kind, generous, a faithful Catholic, quick witted, a genius motorcycle mechanic, a man with a stern demeanor, but he had a smile that would light up a room and a belly laugh that was contagious. No matter the struggles or joys in his life, he always prevailed as a provider for his family, a friend to many, a solace voice to a stranger in need and he tried to bring others to faith and spoke of his Catholic faith that he lived by. Joe had an uncanny and yet "old school" way of pushing those he loved to become better versions of themselves. He was an honest man, not just in his words, but in his actions in life. He said what he meant and he meant what he said, which is how the slogan for "Scooters, Inc." -"Around since Old School was New" came about. Here is to a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a gentleman, a fighter and a complete legend. Joe is survived by his wife: Jean Peaco Wallmeyer; his daughters: Courtney Wallmeyer and Catherine Wallmeyer; Step Son: Troy Peaco (Jennifer); Grandchildren: Ruby Magdalene, Molly Jane, Tyler Peaco, Taylyn Peaco, Shelby Sale (Cody), Wyatt Riddell Peaco, Gabriella Anna, Layden Gunner, Justin Ryan, J.R. ; great grandchildren: Georgia Lynn, Kingsley Layton, Olton Lee ;his siblings: Ann Wallmeyer, Ignatius Wallmeyer, Richard Wallmeyer, Kathleen Dart, John Mark Wallmeyer; 20 nieces/nephews, 61 great nieces/ nephews and countless friends.
A gathering of friends and family will take place 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., May 27 at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Road. A Funeral Mass will be offered 11 a.m., May 28, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 300 North Sheppard Street. Interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
