Simone was born to Alvina and Romeo Vezina in Three Rivers, Quebec, Canada. She moved with her family to North Dakota as a teenager.
In 1939, she married Tofik Asmael. They lived and farmed near Glenfield, ND, raising two daughters.
She was preceded in death by Tofik in 1962. Moving to Detroit, MI to be near her mother and family after his death, but returning to ND in 1986 until her passing.
Simone is also preceded in death by her mother, Alvina Vezina, her father, Romeo Vezina, brothers: John Vezina of Los Angles, CA and Arthur Vezina of Detroit, MI, and daughter, Maryann Nelson Garis of Minneapolis, MN.
