Graveside services for Rodney J. McAdams Abbott of McMinnville will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements are being handled by Macy & Son Funeral Directors.
Mr. Abbott died at home, of natural causes, on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008. He was 58.
Born in North Bend on July 5, 1949, he was the son of Joseph and Wilma (Day) Abbott. After graduating from Toledo High School in 1967, he entered the Navy and went on to serve in Korea and Vietnam.
He moved to McMinnville in 1975. He worked for Cascade Steel until his retirement three years ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rock collecting, gold mining and spending time in the woods.
Mr. Abbott is survived by a son, Keeley of Phoenix, Ariz., and a sister, Joyce Duvall of Astoria.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wesley, in 2001, and a brother, Jerry, in 2005.
