Supercentenarian. She was a Japanese supercentenarian and was the oldest living person in the world after 2018. She currently is the second oldest verified person in the recorded history of the world and the oldest verified Japanese person.


She was born in what was known as the Wajiro Village during the Meiji era of Japan. She married her husband, Hideo Tanaka in 1922. They had two sons and two daughters. The couple also adopted their niece, the second daughter of Hideo's sister.


She died on April 19, 2022 at the age of 119 years old.
