Born on March 7, 1952, Barbara was the only daughter of Thomas E. & Eva May Dubose Crosby. She was a 1970 graduate of St. John's High School & from there attended Kings College in Charlotte, NC & graduated from Florence-Darlington Technical College. For over 30 years Barbara worked at Carolina Power & Light Co./Progress Energy in the Engineering Dept. and closed out her career providing desktop support in the IT Dept.
Barbara had been a member of First Baptist Church her entire life. She served on numerous committees but her most loved position was serving as Church Historian for many years. Barbara took over that position when her father relinquished those duties in 1991. She also served on the Board of Directors for Grove Hill Cemetery and as it is President for 17 years, becoming president in 2006. Barbara loved dogs and always had one or two companions most of her life. In addition, she was a huge Clemson fan.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, "Buster." They both enjoyed going to the beach and kayaking in lakes and rivers in the area along with the inlet at Cherry Grove Beach. Barbara is survived by numerous cousins.
The family and friends would like to thank the staff on the 7th floor Oncology of McLeod Hospital and the McLeod Hospice House for the excellent care given to Barbara during her stay.
