Killed in Line of Duty
William G. Giacomo SUMMERSVILLE - William G. "Bill" Giacomo, 28, of Summersville, formerly of Boomer, died Sept. 11, 2000, in General Division, CAMC. He was a Nicholas County sheriff's deputy, a former Gauley Bridge police lieutenant, a member of the West Virginia Deputy Sheriffs Association and a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School and West Virginia State College. He was a licensed scuba diver and a charter member of the PADI Diving Society.
Surviving: wife, Staci Foster Giacomo; parents, William L. and Nancy Angel Giacomo of Boomer; maternal grandparents, Horace and Mary Angel of Boomer; paternal grandmother, Virginia Giacomo of Montgomery; sister, Linda Giacomo of Burtonsville, Md.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bell Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Dixie, with the Rev. James Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor, with police honors. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Nicholas County High School Gymnasium, Summersville. Pennington Funeral Home, Gauley Bridge, is in charge of arrangements.
