COON, Alton B. - Of Mt. Morris, age 80, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 ,at home. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avalon Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Alton was born March 14, 1928, in Mundy Township, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and May (Alexander) Coon. He and Marion Coon were united in marriage in January 5, 1963.

Alton worked as a police officer for the City of Lapeer, and a truck driver for F.J. Boutell until his retirement. Alton served in the United States Air Force during World War II.

In his free time, Alton enjoyed country music and played in his own band.

Alton leaves to cherish his memory his son, Dale and wife Sandra Coon of Lapeer; three granddaughters, Laura, Kristin, and Amy Coon; two sisters, Frances Hall, Mary Ann and husband Melvin Andrews; one brother, Walter Coon; many nieces and nephews, and friend and caregiver, Jonell Sayles. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and May Coon; his wife Marion; two sisters, Leona, and Ruth; and three brothers, Stanley, Ward, and Jimmy.
