Louisa Jane Martzluff, daughter of Henry and Louisa Letterman Mankle, was born in Peoria county Sept. 11, 1863. Her early life was spent in this locality, where she attended rural schools.

She was united in marriage to William Martzluf and to that union were a daughter and five sons. In 1896 they moved to Kansas, where they lived for seven years, later returning to this county, where she has spent the balance of her life.

Mrs. Martzluf was a quiet, home-living mother and wife and was a person who always ready to do a neighborly act. For the past four weeks her affliction and her advanced age caused her to grow weaker day by day.
