John Aalmo 81 of Anacortes Formerly of Camano Island, died Sunday April 12, 2014 in Nevada. He was born October 4, 1933 to Arne and Fredricka Johnson Aalmo in Ketchikan, Alaska.

John moved to Camano Island at the age of 4 with his family, residing here the majority of his life. He graduated from Mount Vernon High school and served his country in the U .S. Army. John operated Island Masonry for 25 years on Camano Island and owned and operated Earthshaking Excavation Company in the area for twenty years.

John married Lois Cress on December 31, 1986. They had twenty three years together in which they enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, traveling, and crabbing before Lois passed away in 2009.

John was a member of the American Legion post 92 of Stanwood, The Anacortes Eagles and the Anacortes Elks.

He is survived by his son Bruce and Shannon Aalmo of Arlington; daughters Leanne Aalmo of Grizzly Flats, CA, Charlene Langlois and Darlene; step-children Mark Cress, Patty Chandler (Eric), Erva Dominguez, Karen Daly, and Rebecca Brandeburg; brother Harry Aalmo (Janice); sister-in-law Elaine Aalmo and brother-in-law Jim Brisbin (Alice); grandchildren Lauren Aalmo and (Fiancé Steve), Cody Aalmo (Makhayla); step-grandchildren Tiffany Bryson (Cody), Wesley Cress, Wayne Cress, Jeremy Eldridge, Jesse Eldridge and (Fiancé Holly), Jacob and Courtni Eldridge, Erica Chandler and (Fiancé Jacob); also numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Special thanks to John's nieces Terry and Debbie for always being there to help.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arnold, sister Jean, and wife Lois in October of 2009.

Celebration of John's Life will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Camano Chapel, 867 S. West Camano Dr., Camano Island, WA.
Memorials may be made to the Camano Chapel.
