Anna Jean Baker, 72, of 409 Liberty St., Vevay, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at King's Daughters' Hospital.

She was born June 9, 1932, in English, Ky., the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Della N. Garrett Knox. She lived in Switzerland County for most of her life, and was employed at the former Swiss Inn in Vevay and later at the U.S. Shoe Corp. in Vevay and Madison for many years. She also worked for several years at Randall-Textron in Vevay and at Dorman's in Warsaw, Ky., as a machine operator. She was a member of the Vevay American Legion Auxiliary, Post 185, and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post 5396, participating in many of its military funeral ceremonies. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and canning.

Surviving are three sons, Rick Harsin and Mark Harsin, both of Vevay, and Eddie Harsin of Indianapolis; two daughters, Rita Keith of Bennington and Donna Chervenak of Louisville, Ky.; her companion, Sonny Chatham of Vevay; one sister, Lucille Konkle of Vevay; one brother, Roy Franklin Knox of Inverness, Fla.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Charles Harsin, in January 1994.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The Vevay American Legion Auxiliary and Vevay VFW Auxiliary will conduct services at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
