Addie Abbott, 89, Wichita Resident Since 1884, Dies
Mrs. Addle Abbott, 89, of 2207 N. Waco, died Tuesday at a local care home.
Mrs. Abbott was born Nov. 18, 1868, in Austin, Tex. She moved with her parents from Austin to the Parsons and Cherryvale, Kan., areas by covered wagon in the early 1870s. In 1884 she came to Wichita where she resided for the rest of her life.
She was married to Thomas Abbott, an employe of the old Jacob Dold Packing Co., at the turn of the century. He died in 1941. Mrs. Abbott was a member of Wellington Place Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Oscar Cummings, Ft. Lyon, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. C. Frederick, 528 Mathewson, and Mrs. Arch Dertrick,. Castle Rock, Wash.; and a brother, Bob Furlong, Denver, Colo.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am. Thursday at Cochran Mortuary. The Rev. Dr. Vernon M. Reffner, of Wellington Place Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
