Seleta S. Culpepper, 84, of Waycross died Thursday afternoon at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness. She was born in Waycross to the late Wayne D. Seaman and Kennard Varn Seaman. Ms. Culpepper has made Waycross her home for the majority of her life.

She received her Bachelor's Degree from Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She retired from the Ware County School System, where she taught at Wacona Elementary School and Ware County Junior High School. Ms. Culpepper was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Sid Ruff Sunday School Class, Daughters of the American Revolution, and The National Society of Colonial Dames.

Ms. Culpepper loved to read, do word puzzles, and enjoyed sitting on her porch watching the hummingbirds and gazing at the lake. What put the twinkle in her eyes most were her grandchildren. She was a proud grandmother, and enjoyed every moment she was able to spend with them.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, K.S. Varn, Sr., and Penelope Evans Varn, and her paternal grandparents, Walter Adelbert Seaman and Elizabeth Knox McClain.

She is survived by four children, Chip Spiler and his wife Amber of Jefferson, Georgia, Wayne Spiler and his wife Suzanne of Milledgeville, Georgia, Laura Morris and her husband Daniel of Waycross, Michael Culpepper and his wife Misty Beasley of Soperton, Georgia, eleven grandchildren, Lauren Neugebauer and her husband Braden, Chase Morris and his wife Elissa, Zachary Spiler, Kylee Culpepper, Isabelle Giordano, Liliana Giordano, Michael Morris and his wife Hosanna, Chelsea Beasley, Kelsey Beasley, Tristain Dismuke, Gage Dismuke, and numerous cousins and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m., until 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, Georgia 31501, or to the Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 2525, Macon, Georgia 31204.
