Phoebe (Smith) Beason was born in Greene County, Ohio on 7 May 1824. She was the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Kimble) Smith and one of 9 children born to this couple.

She married Amasa 'Macy' Beason on 26 Nov 1845 in Greene County Ohio.

To this couple were born 10 children. Sarah E; William A; Elizabeth J 'Jenny', Thomas R; Charles H, Harvey J, Joseph M, Silas A.; Martha R and Mary A 'Allie' Beason.
