John Filed for his CSA Pension, application #13114, Waller County.

In a quote from his obituary: "Mr. Ogg was ever a loyal citizen, serving his country in whatever capacity there was need of. In the war between the states, he wore the gray and for four years proudly defended the Stars and Bars. Then the time came for him to lay down the sword and take up the plow, and he again became a loyal citizen of the Union."

(My great-great-grandfather was also in the same unit and it is very probable they knew each other well.
