He appeared in roughly two dozen feature films before leaving the industry. During World War II, he served with the United States Coast Guard and later became a commercial photographer in Hollywood. Along with his siblings, he received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 1999 for their contributions to motion pictures.
