Wahib was a victim of the twin explosions which shook Beirut on August 4, 2020. On 4 August 2020, a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the port of the city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, exploded. It caused at least 219 deaths, 7,500 injuries, and US$15 billion in property damage, and left an estimated 300,000 people homeless.
Wahib was in the hospital, receiving cancer treatment, when he was killed in the explosion.
