Background Info:

WAM (Wish A Mile) is a fully catered 3-day, 300-mile bicycle ride in which participants ride to raise funds and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan, a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their experience with hope, strength, and joy. This particular fundraiser is the largest in the United States for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year's event was the 21st and took place this past weekend from July 24 – 27, 2008. WAM raised a record 1.6 million dollars and will be able to grant 220 wishes for children. There were over 800 riders this year! I have a nephew who rode for 14 years, and a sister who completed her second ride.

Ted Nosal rode last year for the first two days and then passed away in his sleep early Sunday morning. His brother, Frank, rode in his honor this year. Ted was honored at the Rally on Saturday night and the bikers rode a "Silent Mile" in his honor on Sunday morning.

Obituary:

Theodore Francis Nosal of Shelby Township, Michigan, entered eternal life in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 29, 2007, in Lansing, Michigan. He was 47 years old. On Friday and Saturday, Ted had completed riding 200 miles of a 300 mile bicycle ride for Make-A-Wish of Michigan.

Affectionately known by riders and volunteers as "WAM," the Wish-A-Mile 300, is a three day, 300-mile bicycle ride from Traverse City to Chelsea, Michigan, to raise funds and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. Bike rider friends carried Ted's bike across the finish line at the completion of the ride on Sunday in Chelsea.

Ted was employed as a manager of General Motors Parts AC Delco Channel Planner Division. He served as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Ted was a 1977 graduate of Center Line High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University, and a Master of Business Administration in 1999 from Kent State University.

Ted was an avid bicyclist, an avid fitness enthusiast, a tri-athlete and a member of the Wammer Jammer Bike Team. He was a fan of University of Michigan football, enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling, and he loved to cook. He also loved being with his children.

Ted is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Shealyn and Theodore (T.J.); parents, Theodore and Katherine (deceased 9-5-2007); siblings, Mary Ann (Wael) Dokho, David, Christ (Shellie) and Frank (Pam); and many nieces and nephews. He also will be missed by his close friends, Ray Nowicki, Gail Nosal, and Maria McBain.

Visitation: 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 and 1-9 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, at the Sterling Heights Chapel of E.J. Mandziuk & Son Funeral Directors, 3801 18 Mile Road (northwest corner of Ryan), Sterling Heights. Additional visitation: 10:30-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Funeral Mass: Celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2007, at St. Kieran Catholic Church, 53600 Mound, Shelby Township.

Memorial contributions may be addressed to Make A Wish Foundation or to the family's wishes.

On Ted's Prayer cards:

**Serenity Prayer**

God, grant me the Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change;
Courage to change
the things I can;
and Wisdom
to know the difference.

**Proverbs 3, 5-6**

TRUST in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will direct your paths.
