Wilma May Strang, of Big Stone Gap, passed away Sunday (March 1, 2009) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Lee County, the daughter of the late Charles William and Minnie Pearl (Riddle) Artrip and lived most of her life in Big Stone Gap. Wilma worked for Old Dominion Power for over ten years. She was a caregiver for her mother and father during their advanced years.

Wilma was a member of Artesian Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap, where her son is the pastor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.N. "Nelson" Strang; her parents; three brothers, Eugene, Rufus and Ralph Artrip; and one sister, Blanche Estep.

Surviving are her son, Wayne Artrip and wife, Penny; one grandson, Jason Artrip; three grandchildren, Dallas, Star and Justice Artrip, all of Big Stone Gap; five step-children and their families.

A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, with The Rev. Alan Collier officiating.
