Father Anthony Citro will officiate a service Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Gerrish Township Cemetery Columbarium. Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, provided arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Mr. Baka was born in Detroit Nov. 29, 1929, the son of Stanislaus and Mary (Rycombel) Baka. He lived in Macomb Township for six years before moving to Higgins Lake in 1992, after spending summers at the lake since 1979. He and Rita H. Mazurczyk were united in marriage Oct. 7, 1950, in Detroit.
Mr. Baka worked as a photographer at TAS Graphic Litho and retired from there in 1992 after 18 years. He was a former usher at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Detroit and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He was past president of Eastside Home Owners Association, former cubmaster of Pack 603 in Detroit and a member of the Detroit Lithographers and Photoengravers International Union. He was also an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Prince of Peace Council #6593 in Roscommon.
Preceding him in death was his son, Tommy.
Surviving are his wife, Rita; son, Ronald and wife Mary Baka of Chesterfield Township; three sisters, Helen and husband Bernie Wirzbicki of Berkley, Irene Nowak of St. Clair Shores and Genevieve and husband Jack Nawrocki of Detroit; granddaughter, Tiffany Baka of New Baltimore; and special buddy Yorkie Elfie.
