OBITUARY: Tosten Narveson Hagen of Freeman township died Wednesday, December 30 at the home of his son N.E. Hagen of this place. He was born in Eggedal, Norway, September 6, 1832 and came to this country in 1854, locating in Winneshiek County, Iowa. They came to Freeborn County in 1858 locating in the township of Freeman where he has since resided. He served in the Civil War as a member of the 5th Minnesota Volunteers, enlisting September 6, 1964, and serving until the end of hostilities. He was married in 1858 in Winneshiek County to Miss Julia Reierson and six children were born to them. They are N.E. Hagen, of Glenville; Gilbert and Theodore, both residing in the township of Freeman, and Mrs. Louis Knutson, residing at Canby, Minnesota.
The funeral services were held at the old home in Freeman at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning and later from Round Prairie Lutheran Synod Church. Rev. O.A. Sauer officiating.
