Loren Glee Tarr, 65, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The Rev. John McCauley will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Alford-Clarke Post No. 852, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will conduct graveside services.
Mr. Tarr died today, Aug. 13, 1992, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He had been a resident of Lawrence for the past 43 years. He previously lived in Leavenworth.
Tarr was a machinist and mechanic. He retired from Kansas University in 1988. He was an instrument maker in KU's Learned Hall. He formerly was employed at DuPont and Kansas Color Press.
He was born Dec. 1, 1926, in McLouth to George and Grace Quesenbury Tarr.
He was a life member of Alford-Clarke Post No. 852, VFW, serving as a post commander. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 309.
He was a merchant seaman before World War II and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He married Rose Farrell on Oct. 7, 1949, in Leavenworth. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include
two sons,
Allen, Lawrence, and Matthew, Galveston, Tex.;
a brother,
Leonard, Lawrence;
seven sisters,
Ruey Champion, Grace Wiley and Iva Torneden, all of Lawrence, Vivian Zule, Sylvia Tarr and Norma Tarr, all of Leavenworth, and Zelma Sanders, McLouth;
and four grandchildren.
