Orelia moved to Texas in the 1950s, she attended Prairie View Training School in Prairie View, Texas. After graduating, she later met her husband Romeo Julius Caesar Alexander Sr., and married on January 3, 1956. To this union, nine children were born: Romeo Alexander Jr (deceased), Wilford Alexander, Anthony Alexander, Olivia Birdow, Daniel Alexander, Helaine Guillory, Nathan Alexander, Sharon Alexander (deceased) and Jason Alexander.
Orelia was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age. She was a devoted and faithful member of Bailey Chapel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Thomas Lindsey until her health began to fail her. She received her missionary license under the leadership of the late Supt. Thomas Johnson.
Orelia walked with the Lord for many years. In her last days before her demise, she continued calling on the name of the Lord. Her genuine love for the saints, family, friends, and all her warm greetings and hugs, humble spirit with the infectious smile has left indelible marks in the lives of many.
After a brief illness, on Monday, December 27, 2021, Missionary Orelia Simon Alexander went home to be with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Romeo Julius Caesar Alexander Sr.; two children: Romeo Julius Caesar Alexander Jr., and Sharon Marie Alexander; a God given son, Carl Rudolph Alexander, Jr.; both parents and three siblings.
Orelia was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She took many children in from the community. She made sure they felt at home.
She leaves to cherish her memories: five sons: Wilford Carl Alexander of Anchorage, Alaska; Anthony Louis Alexander (BettyJo) of San Jose, California; Daniel Joshua Alexander (Theresa), Nathaniel Noel Alexander (Lauren) of Waller, Texas and Jason Alexander (Jacque) of Cypress, Texas; two daughters: Olivia Felita Birdow (Deryl Birdow) of Waller, Texas and Helaine Linda Guillory of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christopher Davis (Andrew); Jonathan Alexander (Kaisan); Benjamin Gage (Elijah); Nicholas Nelson (Kaydence, Khristian, Chase); Briana Gage (Peyton); Tiana Alexander (Jeremiah, Josiah, Ciannie, Jairon); Mark Guillory, Krystyna Guillory (Samaria, Thomas); Shaquitra Birdow (Keveon, Camden, Camren); Diamond Birdow (Jr. Boy, Kaleb); Jason Alexander (Tyler, Jicelle); Larissa Alexander; Brandon Cox (Isabella, Tegan); Sean Cox; Jason Alexander, Jr., and Makayla Alexander; five sisters: Loretha Myers (Felton, Sr.,), Mary Simon of Houston, Texas; Agnes Simon of Webster, Texas; Erma Simon Sadberry of Prairie View, Texas and Diana Loftis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three brothers: Louis Simon, Jr., (Reba), Isaac Simon and James Simon, of Houston, Texas including a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Singleton and Sons Funeral Home 627 New Orleans Street Hempstead, Texas 77445. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00am at Bailey Chapel Church of God in Christ 3004 Sledge Street, Waller, Texas 77484 with Assistant Pastor Otis Curtis, Jr., officiating and Overseer Weldon Simon as the eulogist. The interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin Branch Road, Hempstead, Texas 77445.
