Elizabeth C. Ahlgren (Bise), age 76, most recently of Conway, AR, died at the University of Maryland Medical Center on Friday, December 14, 2007, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 23, 1931, in Olmstead, IL, to the late Grace L. Bise and J. Russell Bise. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James A. Ahlgren.

Elizabeth was a longtime resident of Aurora, IL, before retiring from Dreyer Medical Clinic in 1993 and moving to Heber Springs, AR. Upon her death, she was a resident of College Square Retirement Community in Conway, AR. Elizabeth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs, AR, and the Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora, IL. She was also a 1949 graduate of Aurora East High School in Aurora, IL.

Elizabeth was the devoted and loving mother of Mary L. Avram (Ahlgren) and son-in-law Dwight A. Avram of Wayne, IL; James R. Ahlgren and daughter-in-law Catherine Ahlgren of Wellesley Hills, MA; Marcia Martin Coleman (Ahlgren) and her companion, Brian L. Maytum, of Batavia, IL; and Robert D. Ahlgren and daughter-in-law Linda L. Perry of Los Angeles, CA. A den and room mother, Elizabeth was dedicated to and active in the lives of her children and family.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Mary Bise Simon, of Chicago, IL; and three brothers, Harold R. Bise of Heber Springs, AR; brother, Lloyd D. Bise and sister-in-law Joyce M. Bise of Vilonia, AR; and brother, Rodney L. Bise and sister-in-law, Jerry L. Bise of Heber Springs, AR.

She is also survived by six grandchildren including Tara C. Avram and her husband, Christian T. Laden, of Wayne, IL; David V. Avram of Wayne, IL; Eric A. Ahlgren and fiancée Kristin A. Bruno of Boston, MA; Michael W. Martin and fiancee Crystal G. Loftis of Geneva, IL; Sara E. Martin and fiance Erik C. Voigt of Geneva, IL; and John P. Ahlgren of Wellesley Hills, MA. Elizabeth is further survived by two great-grandchildren, Annabella A. Laden of Wayne, IL, and Ayden J. Voigt of Geneva, IL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., 601 W. Main St., Heber Springs, AR. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, also at the Olmstead Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Christian Health Center, 1101 W. Main, Suite G, PMB 233, Heber Springs, AR 72543.
